Ayurvedic Recipe: Tridoshic Smoothie
The following recipe is based on the ayurvedic principle that there are six tastes. Those tastes are bitter, salty, sweet, sour, astringent and pungent. When all tastes are present in a meal, then we leave the table feeling satisfied and nourished.
Bitter: 2 cups kale
Salty: 3 X 1 inch piece of nori, chopped
Sweet: 1 banana
Sour: 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Astringent: ½ cup organic pomegranate juice
Pungent: 1/8 teaspoon ginger
1 cups water
1 teaspoon flax seeds
1 TB Organic Whey Protein
1 TB Maca Powder
1 tsp Cacao Powder
Balances all 3 doshas.
Blend flax seeds thoroughly in blender, or in a coffee grinder. Add the rest of the ingredients one at a time, and blend until smooth.
